Our Team

Narishea Parham, Director

I am truly excited to be the Director of the Early Childhood Center at JEH. I have been in the field of education for over 20 years. I truly enjoy and look forward to working with all of the children, families, staff and community members to make this a spectacular school year.

Prior to becoming the Director of ECC at JEH, I worked as the Assistant Principal at Dewey Elementary during the 2022-23 school year. From 2014-2022, I worked in Matteson School District 162 as the Principal and Assistant Principal for eight years at Richton Square School, an Early Childhood Pre-kindergarten center. I have served as a Dean/Academic Advisor of students in Joliet School District 86; a District Literacy Coach, taught grades 5th & 6th-8th Social Studies and Speech Communication in Elementary School District 159; and was a 6th grade ELA/Reading teacher in Chicago Public Schools.

My educational background includes a B.A. in Elementary Education and M.A. in Education Administration from Governors State University. I also hold an LBS and Early Childhood Special Education endorsements.

During my spare time, I enjoy reading motivational literature, spending time with my family, friends, being outdoors, and participating in 5K, 8K, 10K, and half marathon races.

Theresa Lee, Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning

I am moving into my fifth year at Joseph E. Hill Early Childhood Center as the Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning. I started my career journey as a classroom teacher assistant and eventually became an assistant principal at Chicago Public School for seven years. My lifelong goal is to become an impactful early childhood education leader. I believe early childhood education is where actual equity work begins. In these formative years, we are given the opportunity to strategically address the specific needs of our most marginalized student population and create in them a love for learning and school. The education of our youngest learners is also where the disparities are most identifiable.

My educational background includes a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Northeastern University, an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Illinois University, and an M.Div. from Garrett Theological School. I look forward to completing my Ed.D. in Urban Leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago in the very near future.

Jessie Block, Assistant Director of Operations

I have been working at JEH since 2009 when I started as a Child Development Specialist. I moved into a leadership role in 2015. Although I do not live in Evanston, I have grown to think of this amazing community as part of my identity. I currently live in Highland Park with my husband and my 1-year old daughter. Raising a young child has reinvigorated my passion for Early Childhood Education, and watching her discover the world is a constant reminder of how magical these early learning years can be.

My educational background includes a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from the University of Illinois - Urbana/Champaign and a M.A. in Educational Leadership from National Louis University.
