Early Childhood Developmental Screening
Our Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) department offers free developmental screening services to help identify possible developmental disabilities. These services are available for children residing within the D65 attendance boundaries ages 2.11 to 4 years of age. Transitions from Early Intervention Services (the State's Birth to 3 program) are also available.
The screening protocol addresses four developmental areas:
- Learning and functional development
- Speech and language development
- Fine and gross motor development
- Social and emotional development
Screenings may show if further investigation may be needed in which an evaluation process may be started.
Students who qualify for special education services will be recommended to receive services by appointment for speech language services (itinerant/speech improvement class) or within our Early Childhood classroom.>
Referral families must complete all steps in the Infant/Toddler & PreK Registration and Selection/Enrollment process for the Early Childhood Program.
